Wig Services in Raleigh, NC
Cutting, trimming, styling, washing and repairs, for wigs and toppers. Done in our north Raleigh studio by people who work with hairpieces every day.
A wig out of the box is not a finished wig
Every piece arrives from the manufacturer in a standard cut, made to suit nobody in particular. What makes a wig look like your hair rather than a wig is what happens to it afterwards: shortening the length, softening the perimeter, shaping it around your face.
This is the part people most often skip when they buy online, and it is the single most common reason a wig sits in a drawer. A hairdresser who has never cut a hairpiece will usually treat it like hair, and fiber does not behave like hair. Cut too high on a synthetic wig and there is no growing it out.
What we do
Consultations for a new wig or topper
An hour and fifteen minutes, by appointment, and the only service you can book online. We go through what has happened to your hair, what you want, and what will actually work day to day. You can try on as many pieces as you like.
Cutting and trimming
Shaping a new piece to your face, and trimming it again as it wears. Bangs shortened, length taken off, weight removed where a piece is sitting too heavily. Both wigs and toppers.
Styling
Restyling after washing, setting a piece for an occasion, or changing the look of a wig you already own. Human hair gives more scope here, but heat-friendly synthetics can be reshaped too.
Washing
Wigs need washing more often than people expect and are easy to ruin with the wrong products. If you would rather not do it yourself, bring the piece in. Regular proper washing is the main thing that decides how many months of wear you get out of a wig.
Repairs
Lace that has torn at the front, clips that have come loose on a topper, thinning at a crown that gets brushed hardest. A lot of pieces that feel finished are repairable, and it is worth asking before replacing.
Blending a topper into your own hair
A topper needs its own cut and it needs your hair cut to meet it. Done well, the join disappears. Done badly, you get two different lengths sitting on top of each other, which is exactly the thing a topper is supposed to prevent. Bring the piece in and we will blend it.
How to book
Online booking is for new wig and topper consultations only. For cutting, trimming, styling, washing or repairs, please call the studio on (919) 488-4108 so we can set aside the right amount of time.
We are happy to work on pieces bought elsewhere. You do not have to have bought the wig from us for us to cut, wash or repair it.
Looking after a wig between visits
- Use shampoo and conditioner made for the fiber. Ordinary shampoo strips synthetic hair and shortens its life considerably.
- Dry on a wig stand, not on a radiator and not in a tumble dryer.
- Comb from the ends upward with a wide-tooth comb, never a fine brush from the roots.
- Keep synthetic fiber away from oven doors and open grills. Heat damage is not reversible.
- Store on a stand rather than folded in a drawer, so the cap keeps its shape.
We stock the shampoos, conditioners, stands and combs for all of this. See accessories and wig care.
